Please take a few minutes to read the following questions to get a good understanding of what you will be getting into.
How much do you charge?
Choose one of the five website packages that best meets your vision. Anything that is extra will be charged based on the list of extra services offered. If you have a massive project, send me an email and I will email you a questionnaire and an estimate will be provided.
Do copyrights come with the purchased service of creating a website designed by Herlinda's Web & Graphic Designs?
No. All copyrights are owned by Herlinda's Web & Graphic Designs, but can be purchased for a hefty price separately.
How long does it take to create a website?
Each website is a unique project. It can take about a week to months. It mainly depends on how fast you – the customer - can provide all the content that will be displayed on the website and how big it will be. The faster you provide the proofread content, links, photos/graphics (if providing your own) the faster the website will be done.
What is a web hosting service?
It is the company you pay to store the website on their server.
Do you recommend any hosting companies?
Yes, Yahoo’s www.geocities.com for a low monthly fee, or www.networksolutions.com for a high security, excellent customer service, but for an expensive monthly price.
What is a domain?
It is your own www.companyName.com. You can’t have a website unless you have your own registered www…
What is a merchant service?
It is a company you pay to process your credit card payments from customers.
Do you recommend any merchant services?
The only one I can think of for small businesses and individuals is www.paypal.com If you have a checking account, check with your bank to see the requirements you need to open up a merchant account. However, banks have very strict requirements and are more expensive. Unless you sell a tone of merchandise, I would recommend PayPal. Do a Google search for other options.
What are the customers’ responsibilities?
- Getting a registered/owned domain with a hosting company
- Getting a merchant account with PayPal, or other merchant service of your choice if you wish to accept credit card payments
- Provide all the proofread content that will be displayed on the website
- Provide all the descriptions and verified external URL addresses of the links you want displayed on the website including email addresses
What other fees should I expect to pay separately from the website design provided by Herlinda's Web & Graphic Designs?
- You will have to pay a monthly (or an annual) fee to the hosting company for storing the website on their server
- An annual (or every ? years) fee for you to keep your www.Name.com domain
- All merchant fees. Depending on who you choose to process your credit card payments, they may charge by transaction or a monthly fee
These fees are charged by separate vendors- not Herlinda's Web & Graphic Designs
What are the different types of websites?
I like to make it simple and categorized them in two- Informational and Stores. If you are just providing info, well that ’s an informational site. It is a much cheaper and simple website than a store. A store sells products or services, which is a more detailed website and more expensive.
What happens during the creation of the website?
Once the design of the website has begun, the “testing / under development site” will be on a host paid and fully accessed by Herlinda's Web & Graphic Designs. You –the customer – will have the ability to view the design while under development. However, a conspicuous watermark will be part of this underdeveloped website for additional copyright protection at all times until website is complete and all payments have been made prior to it going live on the Internet for the public.
Is Herlinda's Web & Graphic Designs limited to the San Francisco Bay Area region only?
No. All work and be done remotely via the Internet.
Do updates come part of the website packages?
No. Updates and additions are charged separately.
Can Herlinda's Web & Graphic Designs be hired to update a previous website created by another designer or company?
To avoid any possible legal problems, that would be a no.
